The Tallest...

He is the tallest in his class.

Which doesn't surprise me, because he is a January baby.

In fact, he only missed going to school by 15 days.

He would have been in grade one this year had he been born 15 days earlier.

15 days before he was born I was too busy welcoming his father home from the hospital to have him that day, so it's not my fault and I apologize. Even though it took walking up 8 flights of stairs in a slippery parking lot stair well, a shopping marathon and *ahem* some other old wives tale thingys to get things moving.

and because he is so tall, I always get the comments, "he is so big!", "are you sure he's only 5" and my favourite "wow, his dad must have been really tall".

Truth is, his dad wasn't very much taller than me. I think we were pretty close when it came to height. I guess he was maybe "a half a head" taller than me, don't ask me specifics because I don't remember. At all.

All I remember is that this child grew from this:
To this:

Then this:

To this:
and eventually even this:

...and well you get the idea by now.

So yes, he is the tallest.

and maybe even the biggest.

Sometimes it hurts when people point that out. Some say it as if it is a bad thing.

Sometimes it is. Like when I have to buy pants, which is pretty much the equivalent of having to go for a gyno exam...very much uncomfortable. Unless you like that sort of thing, then you are just weird.

but I'm not judging.

What people don't realize is that yes, he is quite large, but he needs to be.

It matches his very big personality.

his big heart.

Those big brown chocolate eyes.

his big moppy hair would look ridiculous on someone a little smaller.

his big voice, always full of excitement.

his big contagious laugh

and his big brain, because he is a smart guy.
One day he will even grow bigger than me....which will be a complete nutso trip for me because all of a sudden I will be telling a child who is bigger than me to go to his room as he towers over me, kind of like a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, only so much cuter, just as messy, only way cuter!

So I don't mind that he's a bit of a giant.

Just please stop making me have to shop for pants that are short enough and wide enough for him because it really is no fun at all, in case you were wondering.

I have the opposite problem, my son is short. In his mind though he is very big and tall. He is not afraid of anything. Very cute pictures.
