I have been falling asleep on the couch a lot lately. I don't quite get it. My couch is not particularly comfortable, it leaves a waffle design on any bare skin surface that presses into it, and the cat hair on it always tickles my nose when I inhale it in.
Last week was particularly interesting. EVILBOY had a presentation in his class about the Chinese New Year. It was very cute, but for some reason I left there feeling completely drained. I even got out of work early to watch his presentation, but there I was at 3:30pm thinking of ways to keep myself awake.
I made some frozen pizza (barf) and laid out on the couch just waiting until 6pm when I had to take EVILBOY to his weekly Beavers meeting.
I woke up at 7:47pm, wondering if it was actually 7:47am and if I had slept in. I was disoriented and confused. My three hour nap had caused us to miss the Beavers meeting completely. I was very lucky that EVILBOY didn't get into any kind of trouble while I was asleep. I went to his room to find him playing with his Lego dudes, surrounded by mess of course, but very luckily safe.
Not only is this bad habit dangerous when I am the only parent involved, it also has become quite frustrating when it is time for me to go back to sleep. Once I got everything done around the apartment for the next day, I tried very hard to fall back asleep - in my own bed of course. I just could not do it. I ended up watching television until sometime around 3am when the Patrick Duffy infomercial about hearing aids came on.
I only remember that was the approximate time I fell asleep because I had a dream about watching Step By Step with closed captioning on.
